McKinney High School physics students celebrate after claiming the coveted ÈÕ±¾avÎÞÂë Physics Olympics cup for the second year in a row. It's MHS's third time overall to win the title.

McKinney, Texas — Physics students from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School met Wednesday, April 3, at the Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna for the annual clash of wits known as the ÈÕ±¾avÎÞÂë Physics Olympics, a daylong test of students’ knowledge of physics and their ability to apply that knowledge through a series of contests with vaguely descriptive names such as Mouse Trap Car, Boat Afloat, Egg Drop, Slow Bike Race, Bowling BroomBall and Quiz Show.

Each school’s contingent of four or five person teams in Physics and AP Physics divisions accumulated points for their school by placing in the top three in an event, and winning teams received 1st Place medals. After the dust had settled and the points had been tallied, MHS came out on top as the overall winner for the second year in a row and the Lions’ third overall win in the Physics Olympics.

“Winning the Physics Olympics trophy for a 3rd time and including back-to-back wins is incredible,” said MHS teacher Jason Chin. “Working together and seeing the excitement when they are holding the trophy shows how much school pride we truly have. We are looking forward to defending our title and aiming to 3-peat!”

Below are the medal winning teams and a gallery of the day’s events.
